Remove the drag link mounting peanuts from the spindles on both facets of the tractor. Allow the pulls link to fall downhill out of the spindles, or faucet them out softly with a hammer. Don't hit the drag links difficult, or you'll have hard knocks taking away the link closes.
Remove the ball joints from both drag links. These are the inner threaded caps that are on the onward finale of both links, with the stud which goes upwards through the wheel spindles. Use pliers to hold the ball joints, and spin the links counterclockwise to isolate them from the ball joints.
Investigate the ball joints for overabundance corrosion, rust or harm. If the ball joints are deficient, substitute them with new ball joints. Exploit a light coating of grease to the threaded closes of the new drag links. Double check you have the links lined up on the rectify facets of the tractor. Rotate the ball joints onto the drag links by hand, to assure rectify threading.
Lay beneath the over the top of the tractor. Install the new drag links onto the steering equipment, and constrict the mounting peanuts with your ratchet and plug. Don't constrict the peanuts until now which the drag links don't pivot. Move to the over the top of the tractor.
. Push the the ball joint studs up through the wheel spindles on both facets of the tractor. Constrict the mounting peanuts on each spindle, exploiting your ratchet and plug. Use the instructions in Part 2 of this project to make alignment alterations to the GT1554.
Set the steering wheel to its centred position. Move to the over the top of the tractor, and view each wheel for rectify alignment. Determine if either wheel is turned too far inward or outward.
Remove the ball joint mounting nut at the spindle, using a ratchet and plug. Spin the ball joint clockwise or counterclockwise on the drag link, relying on that way your wheels were confronting. Set the ball joint stud back through the wheel spindle, and rotate the nut on in the short term by hand. Step back from the tractor and make sure your wheel alignment.
Repeat Step 2 unti you have both over the top wheel confronting clear-cut and rearward, by forming the rectify alterations with the ball joints and drag links. Constrict the ball joint mounting peanuts with your ratchet and plug.
